Survalent’s HMI (Human Machine Interface) is a software automation solution that provides real-time control and data acquisition for utility operations. The application includes the SmartVU graphical user interface that delivers state-of-the-art visualization to all system data, and Survalent Explorer, our full-feature editing software.


Gateway is a software automation solution to convert protocols from substation devices, such as Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs), to a standard protocol to achieve interoperability. It can run on any substation hardened computer running Microsoft Windows operating system.
IED points can be mapped to the Gateway using our database editing tool Survalent Explorer, imported from MS Excel spreadsheets, or automatically created using our IED Wizard.

  2. The Gateway data exchange servers are designed to make data appear to other client systems like it is coming from one or more RTUs. it can support multiple master stations or client applications.
  3. Complete Datasets can be created and assigned to multiple Virtual RTUs.
  4. This means that the same data can easily be sent to more than one master system without having to maintain duplicate dataset definitions for each Virtual RTU.
  5. Points are easily added to the Virtual RTU with the drag-n-drop point browser. Our Virtual RTU application includes all the editors for setting up the communication connection and how the data is formatted when polled by The other system.

  3. Gateway is fully scalable. Applications such as Event Data Recorder, GPS Clock, and Voltage Reduction can be added to extend the capabilities of the gateway.
  4. HMI can be added to the gateway to provide a full graphical user interface based on our SmartVU GUI
